Congruent Line Segments

Two line segments are congruent if they have exactly the same length.

Draw 5 segments congruent to the segment AB in the figure below. Be creative. Put them in different places on the grid.

Congruent Angles

Two angles are congruent if they have the same size.

Below you see a right angle - it measures 90 degrees. Draw three angles that are congruent to it. You may place them anywhere in the picture.

Congruent Triangles

Two triangles are congruent if they have the same size. There are some general results that tell us when two triangles are congruent. We will look at two examples:

  • If all 3 sides of one triangle have exactly the same length as the sides of another triangle then they are congruent.
  • If 2 of the sides and the angle in between for one triangle match those of another triangle, then they are congruent.

Below you see a triangle. Draw 2 triangles that are congruent (same size) as this triangle.
