Talk:Rosette Exercises
With question 16 and the Path of Life artwork, I'd suggest removing the images and just putting the links instead. This is the standard form I've been using. The main reasons are 1) to isolate our use of copyrighted work, 2) to encourage students to look at a better quality image, 3) to make exercises pages shorter for printing and less visually cluttered. It seems like 1) is less important than it used to be. I guess that the benefits of 3) are unclear. I still like leaving out the images because of 2).Bryan 15:46, 29 September 2007 (CDT)
Question 9 is one of the last places where we require Visions of Symmetry. It's probably time to eliminate that, either by scanning the images or probably just changing the question. At the time we wrote it, we needed to use stuff from the book. Now, not so much, and there are probably better choices. Not fixing it now, but planning to. Bryan 00:51, 30 January 2012 (CST) Done! I'm going to make some changes... any objections?
On the Sol LeWitt stars problem, the third part should ask for the missing star, because everyone just draws a 10-point star instead of filling in the missing D2 or D3 stars.
On question 9, where they have to find symmetry groups, the two human figure tessellations b and c are terrible, because they have subtle symmetry breaking. It drives me nuts grading this question, since just about everyone gets it 'wrong'. Anyway, using those pictures is a relic from the days when all we had was Visions of Symmetry.
