Ran this for the first time Fall 2011. Was also helping students with their art project, so didn't pay as much attention to this exploration as they probably needed. The point of the probability question is to notice that the corner bars are likely to be a certain way. Then, when you see the applet run it's not so weird that the four corners of the diamond are mostly brick-work tilings. This is known as a 'frozen region' and the boundary is the arctic circle.
